One Day at a Time

See, told you I was going to do better about blogging. It's past midnight and I'm just NOW getting this post up but better late than never, right? I'm coming you tonight with heavy eyes, lots of yawns and a complete state of mental exhaustion. With that said, I'm going to make this post short and sweet.

Yesterday was a pretty good day for us. It was cold so we ended up staying inside most of the day. I did a little housework & Ax and I worked in some Tot School. I learnt a very valuable Tot School lesson, don't do school with the TV on. I like to never kept his attention long enough to do anything. From now on school will take place in the bedroom.

Since our 1st part of the week was busy, I decided to stick with a pretty basic theme for the couple of days we had left. We worked on the color RED! We did 3 projects with only two of theme pertaining to red. The other one I chose just because I knew he'd love it.

Our first project came out of a kit I bought at JC Penny's the other day. I found it on clearance for about $4.00 and couldn't pass it up. It was sticker art and my little man LOVES stickers. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box. It came with 3 Frames, 3 Sticker Sheets and 3 Scenes to put the stickers on. I must say, I got a great deal! Little Man had a blast. We did the transportation scene first because he loves anything that pertains to a car. I peeled off the stickers and he put them where he wanted. For some reason he likes to layer his stickers and cover up the previous one. I have no idea. I let him do as he wanted though, after all it was HIS art work, not mine.

The second project of the day was to make a RED poster to hang in his school area. I found red objects prior to the project and he helped tape them to the paper. He loved playing with the tape (because he's not usually allowed) and I tried to explain that all the objects were red. I'm not sure he really understood. I think partly because he got up every few minutes and watched Dora!

Our last project was to glue apples on a tree. Anika precut the tree pieces and I let Ax glue them together. I then tore up small pieces of tissue paper and wadded them up to make apples. Ax glued the apples on the tree. He LOVES to work with glue. It's one of his new favorite things. It kept his attention for a bit but then we were right back to Dora....go figure!

All in all, the projects went well except for the whole TV thing. See, told you I learned a valuable lesson!

The afternoon was NOT a good one though friends. I had to wake Ax to go pick up Anika so the entire trip was filled with LOTS of crying. Then once I picked up Anika, her & I got into a major argument. I told you all that she made some bad choices lately. Well, I being a concerned mother decided to voice my opinion. Unfortunately I learned more in that single 30 minute conversation than I ever wanted to hear. I won't go into detail but I will tell you that my baby needs LOTS and LOTS of prayers. If you are a prayer warrior, plese remember her and I both in prayer.

Our evening was filled with lots of crying, talking and more crying. I think I went to bed a little after midnight but I slept none.

Today I decided to go see my family doctor. I didn't send Anika to school because I knew she was drained from yesterday. Today, things took a turn for the worst. I had to make some REALLY hard decisions and pray to God that I made the right ones. I wish I could share details with you all on this blog but some things must be kept personal. If you are a close blog friend that I talk with frequently, feel free to email me. I will be glad to share and ask for your prayers.

Friends, it's just been a ROUGH day. Praying tomorrow is better and brighter. We were invited to a wedding tomorrow and it's still up in the air if we will attend or not. Also, I have some Tot School planned for Ax tomorrow but again, it's one day at a time around here right now. I will try to make some time to blog over the weekend. Until then though, I'm off to try and get some shut eye!

Hope you and yours are doing well
Happy Weekend to each of you

Angie

  1. Oh Angie, you are really having a hard time right now. I don't need to know the details to pray for you and your family. Things will get better. But know if you ever need to talk, I'm there for you.

At least you learned the TV lesson so Tot School will be better next time. I think the apple tree idea was so cute!

  3. I am so sorry that Anika is going through some rough times right now, which of course means you as her mom will be hurting too. I send prayers and love to you and your whole family.

On a lighter note, Tot School looks like it's keeping Ax busy, and I too have learned to turn the TV off during "school" time. My kids still cannot concentrate on their homework if we have any distractions present.
