Snowy Weekend full of Fun

The weekend is over & it's already Monday morning again. I shouldn't complain though, I still got to sleep in this morning. Hubby is on 2nd shift this week and Anika didn't have any school again today. It takes forever for the snow and ice to melt on all these country back roads. If I was guessing, they will be out tomorrow too.

It's been a good weekend around here. We haven't really done too much but still it's been quite enjoyable. We got snow snow on Friday night and when we woke Saturday morning, everything was blanketed in white. This was our first "real" snow of the year!

Hubby made pancakes for the kids for breakfast. My kids think he's famous for his pancakes. I must agree, they are good. It's one of the few things the man knows how to cook. After breakfast they all got bundled up & went out outside to play. I stayed in with Miss Annalee, it was just too cold for her. They spent the next bit riding the four wheeler in the snow.

Annalee and I just pilfered around the house. I played on the internet some, did a bit of housework and so forth. When the kids & Hubby got done playing, I had him with Miss Lee and I ran to town to the store. We had to have formula & milk! On my way home from the store I saw an accident & stopped at a nearby house to get some assistance. Luckily, the driver of the vehicle was just fine. I'm not sure why or how he wrecked but I'm betting speed was a factor. Our roads weren't clear but they were safe as long as you took your time.

I fixed some Cheeseburgers & Curly Fries when I got back home. We all ate & then Hubby and I decided to get out a couple hours by ourselves and ride. We left Axle & Annalee here with Anika and her Friend. They didn't seem to have any trouble with the babies. We were gone about 2 hours and I called several times and checked in on them. Hubby and I were bundled up in a ridiculous amount of clothes so it didn't get too cold. We stopped by the cabin before coming home where some guys had a fire built. We warmed up and chatted a bit before starting back out on our journey. I was going to take some pictures but my camera was under so many layers of clothes that I never got to dig it out. Trust me though, everything was beautiful. Riding a 4-wheeler in the snow is so much fun!

We came home and got warmed up. Hubby hung out in his garage for a bit while I supervised the girls doing some cooking. They made another Ooey Gooey Butter Cake (per our request) & some Hot Chocolate Brownies. I must admit the Butter Cake was gone once again before the end of the night. Those things are the absolute best. Hubby came in and had dessert with us & then we rented a movie. The girls rented one in their room and we rented one in the living room. We watched Ted, have you seen it?

I've got to be honest, I was really looking forward to this movie. Everyone had told me how hilariously funny it was and I agree, it was funny. The movie itself was really good but I do think they could have done without the vulgarity & language that was in it. I'm not one that is easily offended but truly it was a bit too much for even me. The story line was fantastic and it was comical but I do think it could have been just as good without all the other stuff. Just my opinion!

After our movie, we fixed us a pizza and watched a little bit of another movie. We were just so tired though we couldn't make it all the way through it so we ended up calling it a night.

Sunday morning we woke up & started getting ready. Since we didn't get to go to the Monster Jam (because of the weather), we wanted to do something fun with the kids. We decided to take them up Mom and Dad's to go sled riding. My parent's have a hill that is perfect for sledding. The kids & I drove the car up and Hubby rode his 4-wheeler across the hill to their house. It's about a 2 hour ride but he loves riding so he didn't mind it. We stopped on the way up & got some Chicken n Dumplings for dinner. After we all ate, we bundled up and headed outside to do some sledding. Even I rode a few times and I'm not a fan of cold weather! It was pretty fun. My Little Man absolutely LOVED it!

After sledding, we all went into my parent's to warm up. We were freezing cold! Mom fixed us all a big mug of Hot Cocoa with Marshmallows and Whipped Cream & let me tell ya, it hit the spot! Mom and Dad volunteered to watch the kids for a bit for us so Hubby & I hopped on the 4-wheeler and took off. We rode all the way from their house to our house. We did stop and stand by the fire in the cabin for a bit to warm up. It was a beautiful ride & took us about 2 1/2 hours to make the trip. I enjoyed it so much though. I told Hubby it felt like we were on a snow mobile!

Once we got home, we changed our clothes and hopped in the truck to go pick up my car & the kids. On our way there it had started snowing again and things were trying to recover. We didn't stay long, just long enough to load up the Little One's and all their things. Anika decided to spend the night there. Her and Her Pa were watching the Superbowl!

We came home and I fixed us some Superbowl food. We do not like football & never even turned it on to the Superbowl BUT we do like food so I figured we could at least eat good for Superbowl Sunday! We had  Buffalo Chicken and Wild Rice & Chips and Salsa! It was quite tasty. Little Man even got into the whole Superbowl Theme. Look at him, he's going to be the next Superstar Football Player!

After dinner both babies went to sleep so Hubby and I spent the remainder of our evening watching movies. We watched Joyful Noise first!

This was one of the BEST movies that I have seen in a very long time. It was very moving and I might have even cried once or twice! If you have not saw it, I HIGHLY recommend it :)

The second movie we watched was 5 Year Engagement!

It was a cute movie and I'm glad we watched it but it's one of those movies that you only want to see once. It was funny and definitely a chick flick! I don't think Hubby enjoyed it quite as much as I did.

By the time we finished 5 Year Engagement, it was going on 1:00 am so we headed to bed. I don't think I laid there 10 minutes before I was sound asleep!

This morning I ended up getting up early. Annalee woke around 9:00 and I stayed up with her. I've been online ever since. Little Man came through the house just a bit ago though so it's time for me to get our day started. Anika's gone to Paintsville with my Mom so it's just the Little One's here with me today. Hubby will be leaving for work in just a bit. I hope you all have a good Monday. As for us, we will be here in the house keeping warm

Till Tomorrow,
Angie

  2. Oh I haven't seen Joyful Noise- will have to check it out.
And I agree-- I hate when they ruin movies/books with excessive language or vulgarity. There are many movies and books I have not watched or read because of that.

Looks like you enjoyed the snow.

  3. Wow 4-wheeling and sledding!!! Sounds like a blast!

I too loved Joyful Noise - and I defintely shed a few tears too :)

5-Year Engagement was ok - not awesome - but had some moments. And Ted - I actually thought it was funny - DUMB but funny. I agree that the raunchyness was overdone for sure. They are making a Ted 2 - can only imagine the mess it will be.

Glad your mouth is feeling better! Nothing worse than a toothache - makes your whole head hurt.

  4. I'm with you on the movie Ted. The vulgarity and the smoking pot was a bit much for me... but other wise, it wasn't a half bad movie.

  6. Playing in the snow looks sooo fun!
Loved Joyful Noise. Hated 5 Year Engagement.. I was expecting so much more from it & it just wasn't there. A couple funny parts sure but definitely not enough to sustain the whole movie.
