Before we get too far in this post, make a mental note that I have no idea why my photos look like 1/2 photos. Apparently I have a setting wrong or something. I'll work on that.
Moving on....The girls made breakfast this morning. They fixed Strawberry Muffins. They were good but it took them awhile to get that way. The first time they brought me one, it was completely doughy in the middle. I had them put them back in the oven for another 10 minutes and problem solved. Axle enjoyed his, he ate the whole thing. Totally unusual for Axle.
Our day consisted of not a lot. I mean really, what can you do on a cold and snowy day. The girls played Sims forever, Anika loves that game. They wrestled with Axle for awhile and even dressed him up in some makeup. His daddy would have been so proud. They fixed themselves some spaghetti & meatballs for lunch and spent the remainder of their time laying across the bed with cell phones in hand. Shew, what did we ever do as kids? How did we ever make it without Facetime and Text?
I've been lazy times 10 today. I managed to straighten up the kitchen, put away a mountain of laundry and get our taxes filed. I did work in some time today for a nice hot shower. I washed my hair for the first day in like 4 days. Yeah, gross I know. Seriously though, I've been in so much pain & when I have to take the pain medicine I don't want to do anything but sleep. Why people use that stuff for recreational purposes is beyond me. I would never want to feel like that all day long.
This evening I made a huge kettle of Homemade Veggie Soup & fixed some Homemade Subs for dinner. I ate like I hadn't had a bite in a week. I guess it was because this was the first time in days that I haven't been sick to my stomach. Not only does the pain medicine make me sleep, it also makes me queasy. I've managed my pain all day today with Motrin so maybe that is a good sign that I'm on the mend. I know I've felt better today if nothing else.
Hubby went to the garage for a bit this evening but didn't stay long. He spent most of his evening on the couch watching Dog the Bounty Hunter & Johnny Cash in "Walk the Line". I don't think he would have went out at all but Axle's therapist was here and sometimes when he's in the house, Ax doesn't cooperate as well. It wasn't just a few minutes after the therapist left that he came in. He said he was really tired. Getting up at 3:00 am every day for a week is tough on him. I don't know how he does it. I'm just thankful he's so dedicated to working hard to provide for our family. I'm truly blessed to have him for a husband.
Ax did okay in therapy today. David (his therapist) let him use an I-Pad a few weeks ago and that was a mistake. Now Axle doesn't want to do anything else. David brought playdough today but gave up on that idea pretty quickly when Axle kept asking for the I-Pad. He has some games (educational) downloaded on it and Axle loves them. They are geared towards helping him with his speech & I must say, they do get him talking. I was asking David today about the fact that he has trouble chewing any kind of meats. He said it was probably some sort of muscle weakness but other than just therapy activities (blowing bubbles, drinking through a straw, etc) there wasn't a lot you could do for it. I'm hoping it gets better the older he gets. He's two and a half now & he still slobbers like Annalee. I hate seeing him struggle. Talking for him requires a lot of work & thought. Sometimes I watch him and it breaks my heart. I know it's only a minor thing but still, talking just shouldn't be hard.
Torie left today after being here for two days. Her Mom picked her up around 7 this evening. Her Mom had asked that I help her with her taxes so I did. Yep, that means I filed 2 sets of taxes today. Maybe I should consider it as a side job during tax season.
Before Torie left, Anika's other friend Allie came down. Allie is going to spend the weekend with us. She probably won't have any choice, she's going to be snowed in if the weather man is right. Allie is a good kid though and we enjoy having her around.
Tonight I've played online for a bit. I am making a list of "Staple" items that I want to buy for my closet & I've been using Pinterest as my inspiration. I have SO MANY clothes but can never find anything to wear. I think the reason is that I have lots of bold prints, vivid colors, etc. I'd like to make my style a bit more polished and sophisticated (yep, I'm getting old) & right now my wardrobe just doesn't scream polished. I've decided from here on out that I'm only going to buy versatile pieces that I can mix and match. I'm going to stick with solids and classic pieces. I want to be able to use one piece for lots of different outfits. Instead of having a LOT of junk, I want a few great pieces that all work together. For instance, I want a really good denim jacket. Do you know how many things a denim jacket will work with? If not, go to Pinterest. You will find about 100 different uses for a single denim jacket, not kidding! My plan is sometime this weekend to go through my closet very carefully & then start using pinterest for inspiration when putting together outfits. Also, I plan on buying much more carefully than I have been. I'm tired of having TONS of stuff that isn't getting used!
My Husband and Ax left me around 11:00 and went to bed. It's almost 2:00 and I'm still up. In my defense, I was waiting on the cake Allie and Anika made to get done. You can't go to bed when there is a cake in the oven. They were wanting to make something sweet so I found them a recipe for Paula Dean's Ooey Gooey Butter Cake. Um, yeah, SO GOOD!!! If you haven't tried it, you have no idea what you are missing. Google it and just look at the ingredients. It's very rich though, I warn you. I might have had 2 pieces and now I'm sick. Worse than that, my tooth hated it. I guess it was all the sweetness but that baby is now aching like no other. Stupid move Angie, stupid move!
Well folks, that pretty much does it for me tonight. Not a lot to report here from the home front. I'll be back tomorrow (maybe) with another post. We will either be watching a Monster Truck Rally or Playing in the snow! I guess you could say our plans are pretty much up to Mother Nature.
Oh and before I go, an update on Baby Chase. The pediatrician said that the knot was a fatty tissue knot and that it should start shrinking & go away on it's own at some point. He did say it could take several years but that it wasn't anything to worry about. They will re-check it ever so often & eventually if it doesn't go away, they will do surgery but they don't think that will help. Praise God!!! Thank you for all the prayers you all sent his way. I know his Mommy appreciates them.
Until Tomorrow Friends,
Angie
Lots to update on.
ReplyDelete1. I'm over this snow....I agree, there's not alot to play in so I would just like it to melt and for spring to come.
2. Poor Ax. Hopefully with his therapy it will get better.
3. Yay for good husbands that work hard.
4. If only I had my Pinterest board as my closet, I wish.
Sounds like you may have the case of cabin fever...Today in South Texas 85 degrees.. I wish WISH we had some snow... I hope you get better!!!
ReplyDeleteI love my denim jackets! They go with anything! Did you know that Costco is selling denim jackets? I just saw it as I walked by and didn't stop because I already have two of them. But it's probably a pretty good price since it's Costco and all.
ReplyDeleteI got my favorite denim jacket at a thrift store, so be sure and check those out.
My friend's son had garbled speech and no one could understand it,not even his mom. Once he started school he went to speech therapy and now he talks just fine.
You have a lot going on....in your life and in your heart!
ReplyDeleteYou are such a blessing and I love reading your posts!
Keep on KEEPING on!!!
