Oh my goodness friends, I'm exhausted. Seriously, I feel like my brain is a big pile of mush and I'm so tired my body is achy. Has anyone else ever felt that way or is it just me? It's definitely been a LONG two days. I'm not going to elaborate much but I had told you all back a couple months ago that I had ran into an issue with Anika. Well, I thought the issue had resolved itself. Apparently, I was wrong. I was informed yesterday that the issue was still an issue. I swear I love that girl more than anything in this world but this is one time in her/my life that I could absolutely choke her. Okay, not really but you know what I mean. Please whisper a prayer for me that I may offer her the correct guidance that she needs.
Now that I've got that off my chest, let's move on. I don't have too much to tell you about yesterday. It was a pretty typical at home day minus the evening drama with Anika. I did a little housework, played online, made some lists and did a little Tot School with Axle. We did 3 projects yesterday. The first project was with a new playdough set I bought him. It had a can of playdough and a pair of scissors in it. The scissors were plastic and had frayed edges that were designed to cut the playdough. He enjoyed the heck out of it. He kept saying "Cut Mommy" because he doesn't get to use scissors much. He did okay with them but still needs lots of work. He more or less just pulled the playdough with the scissors as opposed to cutting BUT he thought he was doing something big so that was all that mattered. Our second project was working in his sticker book. We finished the last two pages of it. We still have another book left but I'm really going to have to find him some more of them. He loves them so much. We talked about the colors as we were doing the pages & we named the vegetables and fruit as he put them on. Both pages dealt with fruits and vegetables. The last project we did was we made cereal necklaces. I had some yarn in our craft drawer & I picked up a box of Fruit Loops so we could make them. I didn't give it enough thought though because the fruit loop openings are small and it was very difficult to get them strung on the yarn. I mostly did this project for him while he watched. He didn't seem to mind and he enjoyed the part of getting to eat the cereal off the necklace! All in all, it was successful Tot School Time!
I didn't get in the bed till late last night and then when I did go, I didn't sleep well. As you can imagine, I have been dragging today. It made matters worse that we had a busy day today & that it started at 7:30 this morning.
Axle and Annalee both had doctor's appointments today. Thankfully my Mommy went along to help. Axle weighed 40 pounds. I can't believe how big he is getting. We discussed his Speech issues and the fact that he is still slobbering a lot & can't chew certain foods. He is scheduled to see a Speech Pathologist next Tuesday for an evaluation. They are checking the mechanisms in his mouth. I also had the to recheck the knot on the back of his neck. Knots scare me crazy. They confirmed again today that it was just a lymph node and based on their observation, it was nothing to worry about. Such a relief for this mommy. We discussed his sleeping or lack thereof too. Ax is NOT a good sleeper. He never sleeps deeply. He is constantly tossing and turning at night, he wakes with night terrors that cause him to fixate his eyes & shake and he is up and down pretty much all night long. They prescribed him some medicine that I have to pick up tomorrow so hopefully that will help him rest better. She confirmed that the sweating that he does at night is probably from the night terrors which again was a relief. He had a physical today, had his iron checked & got a vaccination. He was NOT a happy camper.
Annalee was off the charts in weight. That chubby monkey weighs 20 pounds. Friends, that is 1/2 of what her 2 year old brother weighs and she's only 6 months old. I didn't have any concerns with her so her visit was pretty quick. They did tell me I could move her up to Stage 2 baby food and I could start trying to get her over on another (less expensive) formula. She had 4 shots today & had an oral vaccination to take. She has been asleep ever since we got home. Bless her heart, I think it just done her in.
We went to Stewart's Hot Dog Stand & had lunch. I had a Cheeseburger & Fries which was quite tasty. It was a really nice day out so we enjoyed sitting out on their patio and eating. Ax especially enjoyed it, he loves being outside. I ran up to Sally's to try and find a Chi Straightener but they didn't carry them. I guess I'll have to order one offline. We had planned on going to the Science Center but didn't get too because we ran out of time. I had to be back home by 3:30 to pick Anika up from school. I did run in Walmart on the way home though. I was going to buy some Printer Ink for my printer but they were all sold out, go figure! You know I couldn't leave Walmart without something though so I ended up getting Ax a couple things to use for Tot School & I bought him some construction vehicles. After his hard day at the doctor, I thought he deserved them.
This afternoon has been a lazy one for me. I have done very little but frankly, I just haven't felt like it. My dad came down and picked Anika up & they went for a ride. He just wanted to spend some time talking with her. It must not have been too bad for her, she was in a fairly descent mood when she came back home. I ordered us some pizza this evening for dinner. Cooking just didn't appeal to me. The only real thing we accomplished this afternoon was Tot School. When I asked Ax today if he wanted to do school, he clapped & said yay. I'm telling you, the boy loves it.
Today we played with 3 puzzles. They were one of the things I bought at Walmart. He doesn't really grasp the concept of puzzles yet so I worked them for him but we did discuss the objects as I was putting them together. One of them was Crayons with the colors written on them so we got to work on our colors some more with it. Everything is still "Orange" to Axle but with time, he will get it. Our second project was for him to decorate a sticker scene in his Dora book. He LOVES to work with stickers so this was right up his alley. It was the funniest thing though, he kept piling the stickers on top of each other. He wouldn't decorate the rest of the paper. I have no idea why, he has a mind of his own. I just went with it which is a big deal for me. Learning to let him be creative has been tough for me. I want Tot School to be perfect and I have to remind myself over & over that being perfect isn't the point. Our last project was a super simple one. I had some old paper that I bought for a Science Fair project for Anika. I gave it to him along with some foam stickers (transportation theme). He decorated the paper with the trucks, trains, cars, planes, etc. He LOVES anything transportation so he really enjoyed it. He would ask for a train, truck, etc. As you can tell, today wasn't planned out. Since we were planning to visit the Science Center, I wasn't planning to do school. Today's lessons were pulled out of my head last minute. Axle didn't seem to notice nor did he seem to mind. He just enjoyed doing it.
My Hubs is home from work now so I'm heading off to bed. Sorry this post was pretty boring. I did take pics to share today but apparently my memory card isn't working properly because I can't get them to transfer. That is about par for the day I've had. Hopefully tomorrow I'll have a bit of a better post for you.
Dear Friends- Enjoy your Friday
I'll be back tomorrow
Angie
What a busy time you've been having. No wonder you are tired. Hope everything works out with all three of your kids. Keep up the good work with Tot School. It sounds like you are doing all the right things.
