I spent the first half of my day doing pretty much nothing. I talked on the phone with my Sister in Law for awhile which is always a treat. We talked about everything from Church to Decorating to Kids. Her and I always seem to have a lot to say. After I finally quit yapping and hung up with her I decided that today would be a good day to tackle taking down Christmas. Ax and I started with the tree. Taking down our Christmas Tree did NOT make him happy. He kept wanting me to put it back up. I tried to explain that it would be back next year but he's two so how do you think that went? As I took down the lights, he tangled them which added an extra 20 minutes onto my job but it kept him occupied so I didn't mind to bad. He did help me take out all the branches and he would grunt and say hard every time he would try and get one loose. It was quite comical. They were pretty difficult though, I'll give him that. I wrapped all of my ornaments in plastic bags so they didn't bang together before storing them and I took down our stockings and other misc. decor. It kind of made me sad that it will be a whole year before I get to drag it all back out again. I really enjoyed this Christmas.
The funniest thing happened while we were taking down the tree. Miss Annalee started out on the couch but quickly got fussy so I moved her to her car seat. I sat it in the floor so she could watch us put everything away. She seemed to be fairing just fine and looked so cute so I snapped a couple pics of her.
After I got all the Christmas Decor put away and Annalee situated again, I moved all my living room furniture around & got everything back in order. Anika came home from school and it was quite obvious she was sick. She looked terrible and sounded even worse. She's coughing, sneezing and has a terrible runny nose. She said nothing was really hurting her, she just felt terrible. I gave her two Motrin and she quickly retired to her bed. I went to check on her about 15 minutes later and this is how I found her.
Hubby came home from work around 3:30 pm. He watched the two little ones while I cleaned up the kitchen so I could make some supper. Mom sent some Taco Soup home with us yesterday so I heated it up and fixed some Mexican Cornbread. Since Anika or I neither one like Taco Soup, I ordered us a sandwich from the pizza place. I assumed Ax would eat soup but I was wrong, he ate 1/2 my sandwich instead. Hubby actually likes Taco Soup so he was quite happy with his meal.
Ax's therapist came around 5:00 pm. Ax does so well with him. He walked in and sat down & immediately Axle went to see what he had for them to play with today. He had brought a whole new pack of playdough so they spent the next hour mixing colors, making shapes, rolling it into balls, squishing it flat and so forth. Axle NEVER plays with playdough with me and yes I've tried. Apparently he likes the therapist better or something (ha ha). His therapist left the whole pack of playdough here for him to play with. I'm hoping to sit down with him in the next few days and see if I can get him to play with it.
I had so much I could have done this afternoon but I decided to hang with the Hubby in the garage and play pool instead. Yep, I'm loving the new pool table. The first time I played Hubby I beat him 3 times in a row but lately he's been kicking my butt. I think he beat me every game this evening and we played SEVERAL games. Annalee and Ax hung out with us & Anika continued to sleep.
Hubby's friend Derek stopped by around 7:30 and wanted to shoot pool with him so I came in and let the boys play. I got on Facebook for a bit, Pinned all sorts of things on Pinterest and TRIED to respond to some emails but my Outlook program was being a pain and wouldn't let me. I finally woke Anika around 8:00 pm and made her get up. I wanted to just kind of check out things and make sure she was okay. She still feels miserable but she's not running a temperature so that is a good thing. She requested Lemon Cookies for dessert tonight so Lemon Cookies is what she got.
These babies are by far the most requested thing I've ever made. They are SERIOUSLY delicious! You wouldn't believe how simple they are to make too. You take 1 box of Lemon Cake Mix, 1 Egg and 1 Tub of Cool Whip and Mix it together. You drop tsp sized dough balls into powdered sugar and coat the dough. Put on wax paper on a cookie sheet and bake for 13 minutes. Yep, that is it my friends! Seriously you need to try them. They are melt in your mouth good. The recipe yields about 3 dozen cookies
Hubby came in around 8:30 tonight and started getting his stuff ready for work tomorrow. He has to get up at 3:00 am which is so super early. He just about has to go to bed with the chickens in order to get any rest. Anika has been in her room watching television and Axle finally fell asleep in her bed watching television with her. Annalee is on the couch sawing logs but should wake in the next bit for her nightly feeding. I cleaned up the house but still need to sweep the bathroom and clean Ax's potty before bed. My dryer just kicked off which means I have a load of laundry to fold too. I've got a few lists I want to work on before bedtime as well so I guess I should end this post and get with it or I'm going to be up all night again tonight.
Tomorrow there isn't much on the agenda. I'm hoping to go to Revival if they are still having it but other than that it's going to be a pretty simple day for us or at least I think. My days are subject to change at any given moment so I never count on anything.
I hope you and yours have had a blessed Thursday friends!!!
Angie
